Summer Reds

Hey Snobs!

Who says red wines are only for bundling up by the fire during cuffing season? Let me tell you, it’s not! Contrary to popular belief, some red wines are absolutely perfect for sipping under the summer sun. Here are some of my favorite selections of chill-able reds that just so happen to taste even better when you’re in the mood to chill on a warm summer day or night.

LAMBRUSCO
Prepare for a fizzy delight! Lambrusco brings fun to the table with its sparkling nature, medium body, and lively flavors of cherries, strawberries, and blackberries, rounded out by floral tones of violets or hibiscus. It's high in acidity with medium tannins and alcohol.

Recommendation:

Lambrusco Mantovano, Corte Pagliare Verdieri - NV

SICILIA
Ideal for those who love a bit of earthiness with their fruit, this wine features a light body with intense red fruit flavors like strawberry and pomegranate, and earthy undertones of tobacco and white pepper. It strikes a balance with medium acidity and tannins.

Recommendation:

Nicosia Cerasuolo di Vittoria Sabbie di Sutta 2020

VALPOLICELLA CLASSICO
A classic choice for those who enjoy a straightforward, enjoyable sip. This wine is characterized by its light body, predominantly cherry flavors enhanced by hints of cinnamon and black pepper, high acidity, and medium levels of tannins and alcohol.

Recommendation:

Zeni Valpolicella 2021

ZWEIGLT

This grape variety is a real crowd-pleaser for the summer with its easy-drinking vibe, light body, and bursts of red fruit flavors like cherry and raspberry, complemented by a spicy hint of pepper and cinnamon. It's high in acidity, has soft tannins, and keeps things cool with low alcohol content.

Recommendation:

Glatzer Rebencuvee Carnuntum Zweigelt 2019
